The CGDA is open to anyone interested in joining. Annual membership is (being reviewed), and allows members to access our leased property for training, exercise, and trialing 365 days a year.
Field trials are generally held twice a month from February through April. These trials are a way of encouraging friendly competition and help extend the "hunting" season while providing a forum to exercise, train, and enjoy our pointing dogs. We include both novice and open divisions in order to teach new dogs and handlers how to be successful in our trialing format.
Our trials include volunteer judges and planters, with 5 live birds (normally chukars) planted in a 38 acre field. Runs are a maximum of 25 minutes (or until 5 birds are scored). Scoring includes both the find (point), and retrieve.
